Must-See List In Sri Lanka

The most famed attraction in Kandy is The Temple of the Tooth, which contains the tooth relic of Lord Buddha in a casket. The temple is open all through the day, and you can even see the casket twice a day. Also, there are a lot of trekking routes all around, especially if you are keen on exploring nature. The Pinnewala Elephant Orphanage is among the must-see places, where you can see more than 70 elephants having a time of their life. The second place on the list has to be Galle, which is amazing both in terms of beaches and views. There are buses and trains available from Colombo, but you can even get a car to reach here in around 3 hours, without heavy traffic. Once here, you should see the Kalutara temple, while there is also the Seenigama temple known to be great for good luck. There is the Galle Fort, which is pretty amazing, and other places of interest include Maritime Archeology Museum, Galle Light house and Kottawa Jungle. The views from the fort are particularly amazing.

Nuwara Eliya

While many might think of Colombo as the third place, but the recommended option is actually Nuwara Eliya, which is known for having the coolest temperature in Sri Lanka. The place is different for the fact that it doesn’t really feel like the rest of the country, and with the tea plantations and colonial architecture, it almost looks like a different destination altogether. Since this place is known for tourism and nature, finding accommodations isn’t hard. However, if you book with a trusted tour operator, you might be able to save on costs and get more than an average room.
